Jordan-Elbridge hasn't had much luck against Chittenango recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Eagles will look to defend their home field against the Bears at 4:30 p.m. Jordan-Elbridge has given up an average of 7.8 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Jordan-Elbridge is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 13 runs on Wednesday, they were much more limited against Central Square on Friday. They lost 12-2 to the Redhawks.
Jordan-Elbridge saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cameron Fraher, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run. Caroline Moch also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, Chittenango had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.2 runs) and they went ahead and made it seven on Wednesday. They put the hurt on the Bearcats with a sharp 10-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Bears, who have now won five matches by seven runs or more so far this season.
Lauren Machan was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out 12 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run and four RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Danica Oppenheimer, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Alivia Cavotta was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one double.
Chittenango lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in April of 2024.
Chittenango pushed their record up to 7-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.5 runs over those games. As for Jordan-Elbridge, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Jordan-Elbridge has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Chittenango struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Jordan-Elbridge couldn't quite get it done against Chittenango when the teams last played back in May of 2019 as they fell 6-3. Will the Eagles have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
