Recap: Clare Pioneers vs. Petoskey Northmen
The Clare Pioneers had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 50 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 28-14 victory over Petoskey.
Jayden Arthur was the offensive standout of the match as he rushed for 96 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 152 yards and a touchdown. Clare also got a significant boost from Westyn Bryant, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 103 yards.
Clare's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. Leading the way was Jake Punches and his two sacks.
Clare's win was their third straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 7-2. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 35 points. As for Petoskey, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-4.
Clare will take on Bullock Creek at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Petoskey, they will head out on the road to face off against Marquette at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Michigan (Marquette is ranked 157th, while Petoskey is ranked 154th).
