Basketball Recap: Bluffton Tigers vs. Southwood Knights
Bluffton was the 53-47 winner over Southwood when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Bluffton Tigers came up short against the Southwood Knights on Friday, falling 61-40.
Bryce Wilcox was his usual excellent self, shooting 62% from the field en route to 31 points along with eight rebounds and three steals for Southwood. That makes it four consecutive games in which Wilcox has scored at least a third of Southwood's points. Emery Liddick was another key player, putting up 13 points and three steals.
Bluffton's loss dropped their record down to 13-8. As for Southwood, the win got them back to even at 11-11.
The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Bluffton will challenge Fort Wayne Bishop Luers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Fort Wayne Bishop Luers' favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last nine contests. As for Southwood, it'll be Northside v. Southside when they and Northfield meet at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Southwood is facing Northfield at the right time seeing as Northfield is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
