Baseball Game Preview: Bishop Verot Vikings vs. Lowndes Vikings

Bishop Verot are headed away from home for the first time to face off against Lowndes at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Bishop Verot: 1.2, Lowndes: 3.4) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Lowndes will be up against a hot Bishop Verot team: the squad just extended their winning streak to four. Bishop Verot blew past Creekside 8-2 on Friday.

Tyler Reeder tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits over six innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Braylon Sheffield and Owen Rardin did most of the damage at the plate: Sheffield went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI, while Rardin scored two runs while going 3-for-4. What's more, Rardin posted three hits, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. Grayson Carpenter also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Bishop Verot kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now hit at least eight hits every time they've taken the field this season.

Meanwhile, Lowndes never let their opponents score on Friday. They came out on top against Killian by a score of 4-0. The win was familiar territory for the Vikings, who have now won three matchups in a row.

Lowndes now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Bishop Verot, their record now sits at 4-0.
