Baseball Game Preview: Farmville Central Jaguars vs. Wakefield Wolverines

The Farmville Central Jaguars will take on the Wakefield Wolverines at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Monday, Farmville Central earned a 6-1 victory over Roanoke Rapids.

Chase Felton was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Joe May was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Farmville Central was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Wakefield). Their pitchers stepped up to hand Knightdale a 24-0 shutout on Monday. The win continues a trend for the Wolverines in their matchups with the Knights: they've now won eight in a row.

Wakefield's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 19-3. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.2 runs over those games. As for Farmville Central, their victory bumped their record up to 10-7.
