Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Woodford County). Everything went their way against the Hancock County Hornets on Thursday as they made off with a 12-2 win. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Yellowjackets considering their one-run performance the contest before.

Sawyer Moffett tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (three).

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Justus Wertzler, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2024. Landon Heim was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Woodford County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .611. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Woodford County's victory bumped their record up to 9-5. As for Hancock County, they now have a losing record of 5-6.

Coming up, Woodford County will venture away from home to take on Collins at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Hancock County, they will square off against Apollo at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
