Baseball Recap: Central Hardin Drops Highest Score of Season Against Bethlehem

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Central Hardin). Everything went their way against the Bethlehem Eagles/Banshees on Saturday as Central Hardin made off with a 17-2 victory. Winning may never get old, but the Bruins sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Caleb Irwin made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits (and only one walk). Irwin was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Devin Hubbard was a standout: he scored three runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2. What's more, he posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in May of 2024. Chase Price was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3.

Central Hardin was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .650. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in three consecutive games.

Central Hardin's record now sits at 4-6. As for Bethlehem, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Central Hardin will venture away from home to square off against Warren East at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Warren East will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last. As for Bethlehem, they will face off against Fairview at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Fairview has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.67 runs per game on average), something Bethlehem will no doubt try to take advantage of.
