Mt. Vernon had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.4 runs) and they went ahead and made it eight on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by an 8-2 margin over the East Newton Patriots. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Mountaineers also won the last time the pair played back in March of 2024.

Mt. Vernon pushed their record up to 11-10 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for East Newton, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-12-2 record this season.

Mt. Vernon will challenge Hollister at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for East Newton, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 6-5 victory against Seneca on the 7th.
