Basketball Recap: Towns County Indians vs. Hayesville Yellowjackets
Towns County lost to Hayesville last Saturday, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Monday. The Towns County Indians came out on top in a nail-biter against the Hayesville Yellowjackets, sneaking past 43-40. The win was some much needed relief for the Indians as it spelled an end to their six-game losing streak.
Despite the loss, Hayesville still got an impressive performance from Mallory Peck, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 15 boards. The dominant performance gave Peck a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Ava Shook, who posted 11 points and eight assists.
Towns County's victory bumped their record up to 4-11. As for Hayesville, they now have a losing record at 4-5.
Towns County will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Washington-Wilkes at 7:00 p.m. on January 10th. As for Hayesville, they will take on Hiwassee Dam at 6:30 p.m. on January 7th.
