It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Desert Edge had no problem doing just that on Friday. They breezed past the Cienega Bobcats to the tune of 46-7. The victory was just business as usual for the Scorpions, who after 11 games remain undefeated this season.

Desert Edge found their leader in sophomore Byron Brandon, who rushed for 250 yards and three TDs while picking up 10.0 yards per carry. Those 250 rushing yards set a new season-high mark for Brandon. The team also got some help courtesy of Dayvon Standard, who picked up 83 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Desert Edge was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 280 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Desert Edge's defense made their presence known, laying out Julian Hainley five times. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Kye Wells, Antonio Para, and Yahzeen Zion, who each picked up 1.5 sacks apiece. Wells was another major factor on D, picking up 1.5 sacks and making ten total tackles (4.5 for loss).

Desert Edge's record is now 11-0. As for Cienega, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-5.
