Soccer Game Preview: Sumner vs. Newport

The Sumner Spartans will challenge the Newport Grizzlies at 2:15 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.

Sumner is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They never let Stadium get on the board and left with a 5-0 win. Sumner might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matchups by three goals or more this season.

Newport fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back victories it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They were the clear victors by a 4-1 margin over Issaquah on Friday. The win was all the more spectacular given Newport's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Washington soccer rankings (they are ranked 263rd, while Issaquah are ranked ninth).

Newport's victory bumped their record up to 4-14. As for Sumner, their win bumped their record up to 15-4-1.
