Shelby Gossett made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. She also scored a run, marking her first of the season.
Gossett wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Bella Weaver, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Tuscarawas Valley). They put the hurt on Fairless with a sharp 16-6 win on Tuesday. Considering the Trojans have won five matchups by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Morgan Wright was a standout: she scored three runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Arieana Wade was another key player, going 3-for-4 with four RBI.
Tuscarawas Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fairless only managed eight hits.
Indian Valley's victory bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Tuscarawas Valley, their win bumped their record up to 9-0.
Indian Valley's speedy runners might be the difference in Wednesday's contest. The Braves have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Tuscarawas Valley, though, as they've been averaging only 0.8 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Indian Valley continue to outrun the ball?
