Lutheran West gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Monday. Everything went their way against the Oberlin The Phoenix as the Lutheran West Longhorns made off with a 16-6 win. That's more bragging rights for Lutheran West, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Leslie Sullivan made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over six innings while giving up five earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Sullivan was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a home run, five RBI, and three runs.

In other batting news, Larissa Sulllivan was incredible, scoring three runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Emmy Hayes, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Lutheran West will head out on the road to take on Clearview at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Oberlin, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Elyria at 5:00 p.m.
