Ayer Shirley won the last time they faced Gardner and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Panthers came out on top in a nail-biter against the Wildcats, sneaking past 13-11. The Panthers' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Marney Hoeske was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two triples, and three runs. Those triples marked the first that she hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Abbey Hoeske, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Ayer Shirley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .441. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

The win got Ayer Shirley back to even at 2-2-1. As for Gardner, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-3.

Coming up, Ayer Shirley will head out on the road to challenge West Boylston at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Gardner, they will host Maynard at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The Wildcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tigers have averaged an impressive 10.8 runs per game this season.
