Preview: Globe Tigers vs. Coolidge Bears
Globe has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Coolidge Bears at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
Globe suffered their biggest loss since December 11, 2023 on Wednesday. They were beaten by Benjamin Franklin 69-31. Globe has struggled against Benjamin Franklin recently, as their game on Wednesday was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
Globe's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Jonas Dillon, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds, and Josiah Cutter who scored 11 points along with five rebounds.
Globe struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Benjamin Franklin racked up 13 assists.
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for Coolidge, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 67-52 loss to Gilbert Christian on Wednesday.
Coolidge's defeat came about despite a quality game from Tory Gholston, who scored 30 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Gholston has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaiah Slaughter, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds.
Globe has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which is still a better percentage than their 5-17 record this season. As for Coolidge, their loss dropped their record down to 14-5.
This contest is shaping up to be a blowout: Globe hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 50.4 points per game. It's a different story for Coolidge, though, as they've been averaging only 62.9 points per game. The only thing between Globe and another offensive beatdown is Coolidge. Will they be able to keep them contained?
Globe was taken down by Coolidge 91-56 in their previous matchup back in January of 2023. Can Globe avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
