Basketball Preview: Tolono Unity Rockets vs. Monticello Sages
Tolono Unity and the Sages are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2017, but not for long. The Tolono Unity Rockets will be playing in front of their home fans against the Monticello Sages at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Tolono Unity focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Thursday.
Last Thursday, Tolono Unity was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 48-44 to the Spartans.
Tolono Unity might have lost, but man, Raegen Stringer was a machine: she scored 23 points along with five steals. That was a full 52.3% of Tolono Unity's points, marking the seventh time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lauren Haas, who scored five points along with seven rebounds and six assists.
Meanwhile, Monticello slipped by the Sabers 47-46 on Thursday.
Tolono Unity's loss dropped their record down to 17-11. As for Monticello, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-16.
Tolono Unity took their victory against the Sages in their previous meeting back in February of 2023 by a conclusive 58-37. Will Tolono Unity repeat their success, or do the Sages have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
