Basketball Game Preview: Torrey Pines Falcons vs. Granite Hills Eagles

The Torrey Pines Falcons and the Granite Hills Eagles will face off at 12:30 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played.

Torrey Pines' tournament run continued when they took on Otay Ranch on Thursday. Torrey Pines was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 44-43 to Otay Ranch.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Granite Hills). They walked away with a 59-49 victory over Santa Fe Christian on Thursday. Winning may never get old, but Granite Hills sure is getting used to it with their third in a row.

Granite Hills found their leader in sophomore Jaylene Hughes, who posted 28 points. Kerstena Tomika was another key player, putting up 25 points.

Granite Hills is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a massive bump to their 6-5 record this season. As for Torrey Pines, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-5 record this season.

Torrey Pines was able to grind out a solid win over Granite Hills in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, winning 41-29. Will Torrey Pines repeat their success, or does Granite Hills have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
