Parkwood had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 2.3 goals) and they went ahead and made it five on Wednesday. Their defense stepped up to hand the Monroe Redhawks a 5-0 shutout. Considering Parkwood have won six contests by more than two goals this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Parkwood's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-7-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those three matchups. As for Monroe, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-12 record this season.

Parkwood and Monroe will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next contests. The next time the Wolf Pack see the pitch they'll take on Piedmont at 6:00 p.m. on the 29th. As for Monroe, their break will end when they face Central Academy at 6:00 p.m. on the 29th.
