Baseball Recap: Smithville's Luck Changes for the Better on Friday

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Smithville). Everything went their way against the Jumpertown Cardinals on Friday as they made off with a 13-2 win. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Seminoles considering their two-run performance the matchup before.

Peyton Cook made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Cook was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with two RBI. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Smithville got a massive performance out of Riley Eaton, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. What's more, Eaton posted two hits, the most he's had since back in April of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Clay Eaton, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Smithville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Jumpertown only posted an OBP of .294.

Smithville moved to 3-4 with that victory, which also ended their four-game losing streak.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Smithville will venture away from home to take on Shannon at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Jumpertown, they will take on West Lowndes at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
