The Bishop Moore Hornets will challenge the Foundation Academy Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Bishop Moore is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.3 runs per game this season.
On Tuesday, Bishop Moore made easy work of Trinity Prep and carried off a 12-2 victory. Considering the Hornets have won five matches by more than nine runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
JT Costello looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Danny Garcia, who fired off two home runs, seven RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in hits. Kai Lwin was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.
Bishop Moore lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Foundation Academy entered their game against Horizon on Tuesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. Foundation Academy fell just short of Horizon by a score of 4-3.
Aj Zimmerman was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out eight batters over 6.1 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits (and only one walk).
At the plate, Foundation Academy saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Anthony Miceli, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Evan Brothers also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Bishop Moore's win was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-2. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Foundation Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-4.
Thursday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Bishop Moore has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .505. However, it's not like Foundation Academy struggles in that department as they've averaged .437. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Bishop Moore took their victory against Foundation Academy when the teams last played back in February of 2023 by a conclusive 8-1. Will Bishop Moore repeat their success, or does Foundation Academy have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
