Basketball Recap: Benson Takes a Loss

Benson played a tough match on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against the Papillion-LaVista Monarchs, falling 88-59. The Bunnies were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 43-19.

When it comes to explaining why Benson lost, don't look at Goanar Bamach. Despite the final result, he went 11-for-21 en route to 32 points and three steals. The game was Bamach's third in a row with at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Ne'Rae Lee, who posted nine points and seven boards.

Papillion-LaVista's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Sam Boudreau led the charge by going 7-for-9 from beyond the arc to rack up 23 points. Boudreau has become a key player for Papillion-LaVista: the team is undefeated when he posts at least 20 points, but 7-10 otherwise. Preston Avalon also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Benson has been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 13 contests, which has put a noticeable dent in their 9-13 record this season. As for Papillion-LaVista, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-10.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Benson will challenge Kearney at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Kearney knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 18 matches -- so hopefully Benson likes a good challenge. As for Papillion-LaVista, they will take on Burke at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Burke is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59 points per game this season.
