Wood River extended their losing streak to four on Friday, dropping their season record down to 9-10 in the process. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 12-10 heartbreaker at the hands of the Minico Spartans. Surprisingly, this marked the Wolverines' fifth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Alex Golub was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. Wood River is 4-2 when Golub posts two or more stolen bases, but 5-8 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Everett Carden, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.
