Preview: Green Sea Floyds Trojans vs. Hemingway Tigers
Green Sea Floyds is 8-2 against Hemingway since January of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Green Sea Floyds Trojans will head out on the road to square off against the Hemingway Tigers at 6:30 p.m. Green Sea Floyds is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
Last Tuesday, Green Sea Floyds earned a 46-37 victory over Lamar.
Green Sea Floyds can attribute much of their success to Shantavia Hilliard, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and four steals, and Dee Dee Boyd, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 16 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Boyd has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Paris McClellan, who scored nine points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Hemingway, who are still winless after their 11th match. They took a serious blow against Carvers Bay on Friday, falling 60-9. While losing is never fun, Hemingway can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 267th, while Carvers Bay is ranked 101st).
Green Sea Floyds' win bumped their record up to 6-12. As for Hemingway, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-11.
Green Sea Floyds didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Hemingway when the teams last played back in February of 2020, but they still walked away with a 39-33 win. Will Green Sea Floyds repeat their success, or does Hemingway have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
