Basketball Recap: Sam Houston's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Sam Houston can finally bid farewell to their eight-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Lamar Vikings, sneaking past 36-34. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Texans have posted since December 6, 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Lamar lost, don't look at Dearmondrae Batie. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Dylan Hroch, who posted five points and eight rebounds.

Sam Houston's win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 8-14. As for Lamar, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last ten games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-16 record this season.

Sam Houston will be playing at home against Grand Prairie at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Lamar, they will venture away from home to challenge Arlington at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
