Basketball Preview: Palmer Ridge Bears vs. Lewis-Palmer Rangers
Palmer Ridge is 1-9 against the Rangers since February of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Palmer Ridge Bears will look to defend their home court against the Lewis-Palmer Rangers at 7:00 p.m. Palmer Ridge is coming into the contest on a six-game losing streak.
Palmer Ridge pushed their score all the way to 60 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 71-60 hit to the loss column at the hands of Lutheran. While losing is never fun, Palmer Ridge can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 170th, while the Lions are ranked tenth).
Palmer Ridge's defeat came about despite a quality game from Jimmer Weir, who scored 14 points. Jon Rice (#3) was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with eight rebounds.
Meanwhile, Lewis-Palmer scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They really took it to Cheyenne Mountain for the full four quarters, racking up a 86-41 win at home. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest victory Lewis-Palmer has managed all season.
Noah Johnson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 27 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Lowe, who scored ten points.
Palmer Ridge has traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-12 record this season. As for Lewis-Palmer, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season.
Tuesday's contest is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Palmer Ridge have been dynamite from deep this season, having made 39.5% of their threes per game. However, it's not like Lewis-Palmer struggles in that department as they've made 40.8% of their threes this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
