Softball Recap: Lakeside Takes a Loss

Lakeside had lost four straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped down to 8-13 to make it five. They came up short against the Greenbrier Wolfpack, falling 13-1. Having soared to a lofty 14 runs in the game before, the Panthers couldn't push the score so high this time.

Lakeside saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was KYLEIGH BALDWIN, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one run.

As for Greenbrier, their record now sits at 15-8. The victory continues a trend for them in their matchups with Lakeside: they've now won eight in a row.

On Greenbrier's side, Avery Bankston was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over four innings pitched. Bankston was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one home run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Eva Martin, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Harlem Waul was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

While Lakeside had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
