Soccer Game Preview: Long vs. Highland Home

The Long Rebels will square off against the Highland Home Flying Squadron at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Long lost 10-1 to Carroll on Friday. The loss continues a trend for Long in their meetings with Carroll: they've now lost nine in a row.

Long's goal came courtesy of Haylee LaFont, which was the first she's scored this season.

Meanwhile, Highland Home was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They came up short against Providence Christian, falling 10-0. While losing is never fun, Highland Home can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama soccer rankings (they are ranked 203rd, while Providence Christian are ranked 90th).

Highland Home's loss dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Long, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-9-4.

Everything went Long's way against Highland Home when the teams last played back in March, as Long made off with a 10-0 victory. Do the Rebels have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Flying Squadron turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
