Forge Christian extends road winning streak to 14

Recap: Forge Christian Fury vs. Colorado Springs Christian Lions

The Forge Christian Fury had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 20.5 points), and they went ahead and made it seven on Saturday. They put the hurt on Colorado Springs Christian with a sharp 52-30 victory. Given Forge Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 17th, while Colorado Springs Christian is ranked 251st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Forge Christian's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Owen Hovis, who scored 13 points along with two steals. Jakan Sederwall was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with three steals.

Despite the loss, Colorado Springs Christian saw an underclassman step up: Mikey Orawiec scored seven points along with six steals. Orawiec continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Miguel Cota-cordova, who scored nine points along with two steals.

Colorado Springs Christian struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Forge Christian pushed their record up to 10-1 with that win, which was their 14th straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.4 points per game. As for Colorado Springs Christian, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Forge Christian will take on Jefferson Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Colorado Springs Christian, they the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Florence at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd. Florence is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak.
