Softball Recap: Lakeland Wins Going Away Against All Saints' Academy

Lakeland won against Ridge Community last Monday with 14 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Wednesday. Everything went the Dreadnaughts' way against the All Saints' Academy Saints as they made off with a 14-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Dreadnaughts in their matchups with the Saints: they've now won five in a row.

Paige Bettcher made a splash while hitting and pitching. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Bettcher was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Giana Fuentes and Brooke Martinez did most of the damage at the plate: Fuentes went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one double, while Martinez scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. What's more, Martinez posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in March. Another player making a difference was Aniah-Stahr Crims-Aponte, who scored two runs while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.

Lakeland's win bumped their record up to 6-12. As for All Saints' Academy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season.

Lakeland will face off against City of Life Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for All Saints' Academy, they will square off against Cambridge Christian at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
