Baseball Game Preview: Bermudian Springs Eagles vs. West Perry Mustangs

Bermudian Springs is on a five-game streak of home wins, while West Perry is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Eagles will host the Mustangs at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Bermudian Springs 3, West Perry 3) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Bermudian Springs barely beat Littlestown the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Eagles never let the Thunderbolts get on the board and left with a 9-0 win on Wednesday. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won seven contests by nine runs or more so far this season.

Branson Diller made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Dylan Hubbard was a standout: he scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Lane Hubbard, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4.

Bermudian Springs always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .537. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Littlestown only posted an OBP of .000.

While West Perry didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-13), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They had just enough and edged out Northern York 1-0.

Bermudian Springs' victory bumped their record up to 8-1. As for West Perry, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season.

Bermudian Springs couldn't quite get it done against West Perry when the teams last played back in April of 2024 as they fell 9-6. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
