Medina Valley barely beat Alexander the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Medina Valley Panthers blew past the Alexander Bulldogs 8-2 on Friday. Considering the Panthers have won six games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Lyssy Salazar looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over four innings pitched. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Medina Valley let Claire Boehme and Kamyluh Dow run wild. Boehme scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Dow scored three runs and stole Three bases. Those three runs gave Dow a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Arielle Chichester, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Medina Valley's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-6. As for Alexander, their loss dropped their record down to 6-12.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Medina Valley will venture away from home to square off against United at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Alexander, they will head out to challenge Eagle Pass at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
