Basketball Game Preview: Payson Lions vs. Green Canyon Wolves

The Payson Lions and the Green Canyon Wolves will face off at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday without much rest, having both just played. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Payson comes in on seven and Green Canyon on 12.

Payson is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They snuck past Hurricane with a 63-58 victory.

Meanwhile, Green Canyon faced Dixie in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. Green Canyon was the clear victors by a 59-35 margin over Dixie. The Wolves have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine games by 21 points or more this season.

Green Canyon's win bumped their record up to 25-1. As for Payson, their victory bumped their record up to 20-5.

Payson couldn't quite finish off Green Canyon when the teams last played back in December of 2023 and fell 55-52. Can Payson avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
