Basketball Recap: Thomas Stone Takes a Loss

Thomas Stone lost against Leonardtown back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Thomas Stone Cougars were beaten by the Leonardtown Raiders 82-54. The Cougars were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 48-24.

Several Cougars players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Terrell Thompson, who went 5 for 10 en route to 15 points and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Brayden Brown, who went 6 of 10 on his way to 13 points.

Thomas Stone has traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.1 points per game. As for Leonardtown, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Thomas Stone will host North Point at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Leonardtown, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Patuxent at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
