Baseball Recap: Friendship Christian Comes Up Short

After flying high against Mount Juliet Christian Academy last Tuesday, Friendship Christian came back down to earth. The Commanders came up short against the Westfield Shamrocks on Friday, falling 14-6. The Commanders' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Cayden Law was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. He is becoming a predictor of Friendship Christian's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 8-3 (and 2-7 when he doesn't). Caleb Kring was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three RBI.

Friendship Christian's loss dropped their record down to 10-10. As for Westfield, the win keeps they at an undefeated 5-0.

Looking ahead, Friendship Christian will take on Nashville Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Commanders are facing the Eagles at the right time seeing as the Eagles are stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for Westfield, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 12-2 victory against Goodpasture Christian on the 12th.
