Baseball Recap: Hastings Takes a Loss

Hastings was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They came up short against the Covenant Christian Chargers, falling 20-3.

Spencer Wilkins made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base. Isaiah Wilson also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Hastings' loss dropped their record down to 1-11. As for Covenant Christian, their win ended a nine-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 4-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hastings will head out to square off against Harper Creek at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Covenant Christian, they will venture away from home to take on Hopkins at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Vikings' pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so the Chargers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
