Recap: Amesbury Redhawks vs. Ipswich Tigers
The Amesbury Redhawks had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. In a tight match that could have gone either way, they made off with a 32-31 victory over Ipswich. This was payback for Amesbury, who suffered a 48-41 loss the last time these two teams met.
Amesbury got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Ellison Talbot out in front who scored 11 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Celia Tavares, who scored nine points.
Amesbury's victory ended a nine-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-0. As for Ipswich, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.
Amesbury will be home for the holidays to greet Triton Regional at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Ipswich will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Hamilton-Wenham Regional at 5:30 p.m. on January 3, 2024.
