Basketball Game Preview: Skowhegan River Hawks vs. Hampden Broncos

The Skowhegan River Hawks will head out on the road to take on the Hampden Broncos at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Skowhegan is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They claimed a resounding 69-25 victory over Mt. Blue. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

Meanwhile, Hampden had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14.3 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Tuesday. They secured a 59-54 W over the Tigers.

Hampden pushed their record up to 8-4 with the victory, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.1 points per game. As for Skowhegan, their win bumped their record up to 4-8.

Skowhegan came up short against Hampden in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, falling 39-29. Can Skowhegan avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
