Softball Recap: Goodland Takes a Loss

Goodland blew Lakin out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Friday Lakin got their revenge. The Cowboys fell just short of the Broncs by a score of 5-3. Cowboys fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Broncs since on Friday.

Kaedance Smith spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on four hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, Alessa Rickard was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.

Goodland has also been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season. As for Lakin, their victory bumped their record up to 5-9.

Coming up, Goodland will face off against Scott at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cowboys are facing the Beavers at the right time seeing as the Beavers are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Lakin, they will take on Hugoton at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
