Baseball Recap: East Ramapo [Ramapo/Spring Valley] Beats Woodlands for Their Third Straight Victory

East Ramapo [Ramapo/Spring Valley] entered their tilt with Woodlands on Monday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They were the clear victors by a 17-5 margin over the Falcons. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 24-8 on Saturday.

Jeremy Almonte made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 14 batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. Those 14 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with five stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more stolen bases the last three times he's played.

In other batting news, Sadiel Rodriguez and Anthony Araque did most of the damage at the plate: Rodriguez went 1-for-5 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs, while Araque got on base in four of his five plate appearances with four stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Rodriguez is becoming a predictor of East Ramapo [Ramapo/Spring Valley]'s success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 0-3 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Josiah Daniel, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs and two RBI.

East Ramapo [Ramapo/Spring Valley]'s record now sits at 8-3. As for Woodlands, they are on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Looking ahead, East Ramapo [Ramapo/Spring Valley] will take on Yonkers Montessori Academy at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Woodlands does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
