Basketball Recap: Fairfax Falls Despite Big Games from Cam Yingling and Gavin Bermudez

Fairfax lost against Robinson back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Fairfax Lions took a 64-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Robinson Rams. The Lions have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Fairfax's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Gavin Bermudez, who went 6 for 11 from beyond the arc on his way to 20 points, and Cam Yingling, who posted 14 points and six rebounds. The dominant performance gave Bermudez a new career-high in points. Penn Morris was another key player, putting up six points in addition to seven assists and four steals.

Even though they lost, Fairfax was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive matchups.

Fairfax's loss dropped their record down to 8-12. As for Robinson, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season.

Fairfax will be playing in front of their home fans against West Potomac at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Robinson, they will head out on the road to challenge South County at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
