Football Recap: West Haven Starts Season with Win Against Manchester

West Haven had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They blew past the Manchester Red Hawks 30-6. Given the Blue Devils' advantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut football rankings (they are ranked 13th, while the Red Hawks are ranked 62nd) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Manchester's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Samuel Mojica, who picked up 107 receiving yards and one TD. The Red Hawks also got help from Prince Owusu, who showed off his sure hands for 90 receiving yards.

West Haven didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 21-10 win against Shelton on the 19th. As for Manchester, they have also already played their next contest, a 13-12 defeat against Platt on the 18th.
