Basketball Recap: Ashley Jones' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Red Mesa over Hopi

If Red Mesa was riding high fresh off their 50-22 takedown of Music Mountain on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The contest between the Redskins and the Hopi Bruins didn't end well, with the Redskins falling 46-28. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Redskins of the 62-31 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in November of 2024.

Red Mesa lost on Tuesday despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Ashley Jones, who posted ten points and seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Nyla Tree, who put up three points and 11 boards.

Red Mesa now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Hopi, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Red Mesa and Hopi will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Redskins are set to challenge their familiar foe Dishchii'bikoh at 5:30 p.m. on the 5th. Meanwhile, Hopi will square off against rival Pinon at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
