Softball Recap: Lehman Comes Up Short

Lehman had lost seven straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 8-16-1 to make it eight. They lost 10-0 to the Rouse Raiders. The Lobos were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Raiders earlier this season, when they won 4-3.

As for Rouse, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 15-9-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games.

For Rouse's part, Blakely Barber made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 14 over six innings pitched. Barber has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Madilynn George, who fired off two home runs, six RBI, and three runs while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs she has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Mariah Collins, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Lehman didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 7-1 loss against Hays on the 15th. As for Rouse, they have also already played their next contest, a 4-0 win against Lockhart on the 15th.
