Baseball Recap: Seward's Winning Streak Snapped at Three Games

Seward dropped their record down to 13-7 on Thursday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They fell 7-2 to the Waverly Vikings. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, the Bluejays couldn't push the score so high this time.

Seward saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kolton Loos, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI. Layne Luebbe also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

As for Waverly, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 19-7. Seven seems to be a good number for they as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

On Waverly's side, Owen Glassburner spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on six hits. Glassburner has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Hunter Thoms was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted over his last 12 games. Bruin Sampson was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Coming up, Seward will host York at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Waverly, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 6-4 win against Norris on the 2nd.
