Basketball Recap: Center Hill Mustangs vs. Southaven Chargers
Center Hill was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell to the Southaven Chargers 47-43. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Mustangs of the 54-49 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in November of 2023.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Southaven to victory, but perhaps none more so than Caden Johnson, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. What's more, Johnson also posted a 75% field goal percentage, which is the highest he's posted since back in January. Another player making a difference was Cael Jones, who went 6 for 10 en route to 15 points.
Center Hill's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Southaven, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 5-1.
Center Hill will face off against Clinton at 12:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Southaven, they will take on Fairley at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
