Football Recap: Cole Engemann's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Timpview over Orem

Timpview and Orem squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Timpview had to settle for second. They took a hard 40-22 fall against the Tigers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 22-9 back in September.

Timpview lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Cole Engemann, who threw for 368 yards and three touchdowns. His passing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 315 passing yards. 97 of Engemann's passing yards were hauled in by Braxton Wilkerson, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

While Timpview came up short, they sure didn't make it easy for Orem: they limited their QB to completion percentage of just 40.7%. The team can thank Makay Trail for the heroic effort on defense: he. That defensive display was nothing new: Timpview has limited their opponent to a lower and lower completion percentage in three consecutive contests.

Timpview didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Trinity To'a and Taimani Tela. Another thorn in Orem's side was Trail, who made seven total tackles and defended five passes.

With the defeat, Timpview broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 6-6. As for Orem, the victory was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 9-2.

Timpview does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Orem, they will challenge Woods Cross at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
