After a string of four wins, Monte Vista's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the San Ramon Valley Wolves. The Mustangs were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Wolves earlier this season, when they won 3-2.

While Monte Vista had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 18 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 23-25, 25-23, 25-19.

Kennedy Whyte paced Monte Vista's offense, picking up 23 kills. Whyte got some help from Diya Mathew and her 39 assists. Finally, Whyte was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high five blocks.

San Ramon Valley found their leader in sophomore Colbie Albright, who had 13 digs and four aces. Albright is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last five games she's played.

Monte Vista's defeat dropped their record down to 24-9. As for San Ramon Valley, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 25-8.

Coming up, Monte Vista will face off against Petaluma at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for San Ramon Valley, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Branson at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
