Preview: Century Jaguars vs. Forest Grove Vikings
Century is 2-8 against Forest Grove since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Century Jaguars will look to defend their home court against the Forest Grove Vikings at 5:45 p.m. Century has now lost eight straight, leaving the team is hunting for their first win since January 6.
Last Friday, Century took a serious blow against Liberty, falling 62-25. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Century has scored all season.
Despite the defeat, Century had strong showings from Abbie Scharringhausen, who scored two points along with 18 rebounds and four steals, and Alyssa Loza, who scored six points along with six rebounds. Olivia Phillips was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with seven rebounds.
Even though they lost, Century smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Forest Grove was able to grind out a solid win over Glencoe on Friday, taking the game 59-50. Given Forest Grove's advantage in MaxPreps' Oregon basketball rankings (they are ranked 21st, while Glencoe is ranked 98th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Century has traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last 11 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-14 record this season. As for Forest Grove, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 17-4.
