Basketball Game Preview: Jasper County Hurricanes vs. McNair Mustangs

The Jasper County Hurricanes will challenge the McNair Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in Jasper County's favor as the team sits on five straight wins at home while McNair has been banged up by five consecutive losses on the road.

Last Saturday, in a tight game that could have gone either way, Jasper County made off with a 37-36 win over Greenforest. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Hurricanes' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 245th, while the Eagles are ranked 119th).

Meanwhile, McNair played a tough matchup on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 64-26 loss at the hands of Lamar County. The Mustangs were down 51-15 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Jasper County is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.4 points per game. As for McNair, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-15.

Jasper County couldn't quite finish off McNair in their previous meeting back in January of 2024 and fell 27-25. Can Jasper County avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
