Volleyball Game Preview: Bishop O'Dowd Dragons vs. Berkeley Yellowjackets

The Bishop O'Dowd Dragons will take on the Berkeley Yellowjackets at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Bishop O'Dowd is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Castro Valley just ended the team's three-match winning streak back in March. They fell just short of the Trojans by a score of 3-2. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 16, 2024, but that streak is no more.

Bishop O'Dowd started the match hot and won the first two sets, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 24-26, 23-25, 25-19, 25-22, 16-14.

Berkeley had won seven straight games and Finley Couillard did his part to make it eight on Friday. The Yellowjackets came within a single set of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against Castro Valley for which the team can thank Couillard, who had 18 digs and four aces. He is on a roll when it comes to digs, as he's now had 12 or more in each of the last four games he's played.

Berkeley got the W, but it wasn't easy, at least in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 28-30, 25-23, 25-19, 19-25, 15-9.

Berkeley's win bumped their record up to 14-3. As for Bishop O'Dowd, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-7.
